There is no wrong lead to the horse.  And in training, sometimes the wrong lead is the right lead.

Allow your horse to learn from the beginning to canter on both leads in both directions to have a truly handy and athletic horse.  

Straightness is full range of motion and mobility on both sides of the body, not a straight jacket to lock our horses into.
